Given the recent market volatility, WorthPointe advisor John Chapman has received many calls from clients who wonder if it’s a good idea to set a limit on their downside by using a stop-loss order. In an educational video, he discusses the type of research investors should be doing before making a decision.

John highlights the historically small deviation of market returns on a daily and yearly basis, and shows that over the past 94 years, the market ended positively 74 percent of the time. Most importantly, he notes that missing only a few days of strong returns can have a drastic impact on overall performance. Watch the video here.
